Mind Your Midlife: Confidence and Success, One Thought at a Time, with Cheryl Fischer
Did you wake up one morning and realize that you’ve hit midlife? Your forties (or fifties!) are here. You thought by now you’d have six figures in your retirement fund, have the confidence to speak up at work and in your relationships, and would have learned to love your body by now. You’ve read and listened to all the self help and taken the experts’ advice, whether it’s thinking positively, joining the 5am club, or posting notes to yourself around the house. With every next attempt, though, you’re left with even more frustration - or wanting to numb the pain with wine and Netflix. But what if personal development could actually work? Have you ever considered that it’s not what you do, but it’s how you think and the emotions you feel that create real change? What if you could wake up each morning looking forward to the day instead of hitting snooze four times? What if you could feel confident and beautiful in your body instead of comparing yourself to others? What if you could spend each day doing work that matters and brings you success instead of trudging through and wishing for the weekend? As an award-winning Life Coach, teacher, and trainer, Cheryl Fischer has helped hundreds of women in midlife find success and confidence. This transformation does not have to be about adding more tasks and habits to your day; change comes from inside and you can start now. Join us each week as Cheryl, her guests, and her clients share with you how to feel confident in your body, your decisions, and your goals - and create a midlife that you love. "I am enough" is something we say, we remind ourselves of, and we post on social media. But does this mean that we are just enough... barely... or does this mean that we are worthy and empowered? I say it matters whether you use this phrase to compare yourself to others (not ideal) or to make a powerful statement that you are exactly who you're meant to be.
Throughout the episode, I'll share personal anecdotes, insights, and practical tips on how to cultivate a mindset of worthiness and banish feelings of inadequacy. From reframing negative self-talk to embracing imperfection (we're all human), I've included actionable strategies for listeners to incorporate into your daily lives.
The freedom that comes from embracing who we truly are is liberating. Whether you're struggling with self-doubt or simply looking for inspiration, this episode is guaranteed to uplift your spirits and remind you that you are worthy, just as you are.

We rush at a FAST pace through our tasks and our days sometimes. We open a message or an email, take a quick look, fire off a reply, and move on.
But then there are misunderstandings, or no one has answered the full set of questions, or you provide the wrong thing... the list goes on.
What if we take a breath, calm ourselves a tiny bit, then open and read the next message with a little more focus? It saves a lot of time in the long run.

Rest. It's a popular topic today, especially in a world where we are often overwhelmed and overstimulated with work, with environmental stimuli, with people (or people-ing as my friend likes to say).
Cherry Poon-Crowie joins me today to share with us what the seven types of rest are and why they make a powerful difference in our bodies, our emotions, and our mental state.
We know we need to rest, but what if laying on the couch watching Netflix is not actually the rest our bodies need?
We may need sensory rest, physical rest, emotional rest, social rest, mental rest, creative rest or spiritual rest. Walk through these types of rest with us and choose your top 3 that will be powerful in your life.
And Cherry gives some great advice for helping people who are going through grief or trauma or major life events like a new baby.
Check these out...

Credit cards, minimum payments, credit card debt, interest rates... ahhhh!
Let's take five minutes and make it all make sense.
Credit cards are powerful financial tools, and at the same time they can cost you a lot of extra money if you aren't paying bills on time and if you are only making the minimum payment.
If this has intrigued you, listen to the series on money, OMG Teach Me episode 29 on budgeting and episode 30 on money mindset.

A year ago, I started a podcast. I love it. I'm thrilled to have done it. And yet, I started without any idea of how it would go and where I would be after a year.
Every time we start a new business or a new hobby or try a new activity or learn a new concept, we learn lessons that apply to all different parts of life. This week I'm sharing what I've learned in a year of podcasting, and how those lessons will matter for you.
Let's talk about:
Perspective - there are many different ways to look at things;
Accepting compliments - you want to do it well;
Social media is not the be all end all;
Amazing people doing amazing things can be a valuable part of your life;
It's ok to get loud or silly when excited; and
They key to success is to START.
Make sure to check out the episodes I mentioned! My coaches Jillie and Karen were my guests on episodes 48 and 30, respectively. Find links to your favorite podcast app and the latest episodes at www.omgteachme.com/podcast.

I'm taking inspiration from Nate Bargatze today! He recently talked about having to pay more attention to what he eats now that he's in his 40s... because what we eat really affects how we feel.
Yes. That's true.
Let's talk about the ways we might justify how we're feeling instead of realizing that a certain food or drink or habit could have caused it. The most important thing is understanding how different foods affect your own body - and your energy level and sleep as well. Then you get to decide.
Make sure to listen to episode 46 on gluten for lots more information on the idea of being gluten free, who might want to do that, and where gluten comes from.

There are five types of hunger... and four of them are emotional hunger.
Jennifer Dent Brown, Health and Life Coach, joins me today to walk through what hunger feels like and how to recognize the type of hunger you are feeling.
We dive into the idea that no foods are off-limits and you can decide individually what foods give you energy and what foods create sluggishness for you.
We're talking about weight loss drugs and the pitfalls that may happen when we use only those drugs as a solution and we don't address our emotional eating issues.
Eating with intention is key. If you want to eat something, do it! Just know why.

It's healthy to go outside - even for a few minutes - even right where you are.
More time and more greenery (lake or beach, anyone?) is even better!
Let's talk about why just stepping out of doors is so powerful for your brain, your body, your heart, and your sleep.
Step outside for your health.
