Mind Your Midlife: Confidence and Success, One Thought at a Time, with Cheryl Fischer

Did you wake up one morning and realize that you’ve hit midlife? Your forties (or fifties!) are here. You thought by now you’d have six figures in your retirement fund, have the confidence to speak up at work and in your relationships, and would have learned to love your body by now. You’ve read and listened to all the self help and taken the experts’ advice, whether it’s thinking positively, joining the 5am club, or posting notes to yourself around the house. With every next attempt, though, you’re left with even more frustration - or wanting to numb the pain with wine and Netflix. But what if personal development could actually work? Have you ever considered that it’s not what you do, but it’s how you think and the emotions you feel that create real change? What if you could wake up each morning looking forward to the day instead of hitting snooze four times? What if you could feel confident and beautiful in your body instead of comparing yourself to others? What if you could spend each day doing work that matters and brings you success instead of trudging through and wishing for the weekend? As an award-winning Life Coach, teacher, and trainer, Cheryl Fischer has helped hundreds of women in midlife find success and confidence. This transformation does not have to be about adding more tasks and habits to your day; change comes from inside and you can start now. Join us each week as Cheryl, her guests, and her clients share with you how to feel confident in your body, your decisions, and your goals - and create a midlife that you love. Jen Liss joins me this week to talk about how we can focus on fun to overcome doubt and fear in our lives.  Within the first 10 minutes of this episode, she gave me a sentence that I will use over and over to determine what I want to focus on each day and in each job or task I do.  OMG, I hope it's just as meaningful for you!
We're talking about untethering from the web of labels and expectations that we live within and growing our capacity for joy.  What are the warning signs that we are hitting the upper limit on the amount of joy we'll allow ourselves to experience in life?  Listen in and find out.
Make sure to connect with Jen on Instagram at @untetheredjen and online at jenliss.com.

What would happen if you smiled more, gave genuine compliments, were fully aligned with your offer, and made sure to listen well?  Whoever you were interacting with would most likely leave the conversation with an impression of increase.
Let's talk about why and how to leave people better off than when we found them.  For sales and online influencing, as well as business negotiations, this is key.  And for interpersonal communications it really matters as well.

Feeling good - confident - in what we wear and in our appearance matters.  Style helps us to feel empowered, put together, confident, and positive.  Emotion is the most powerful element to mindset and success and so feeling good is a powerful thing.
Style also changes how others perceive us. (Remember the adage, "dress for the job you want?")
Amanda Gauger joins me this week to give us some basic principles for dressing our bodies to advantage.  We're learning about body architecture and how to determine our body shape.  We'll hear some examples of ways we can BALANCE our bodies with style.  We'll also talk about REPETITION and how this is a principle that can help us make clothing decisions.
Make sure to follow and connect with Amanda at @bourbonbarbie on Instagram.
Grab a screen shot as you're listening and share it on your social media so that more of us can learn style principles that help us to feel good when we go out into the world.

This week my guest is Nicoline Huizinga and she shares with us the basic background of what Human Design is, and why we may want to find out our own strengths in this way. We're talking about the ways we interact with people, the ways we should take action in our business lives, and even more.

A single comment about us being too shy or too smart or too silly can have an impact for YEARS.  This week I'm talking about what listeners shared with me about labels they've dealt with in life - anything from ditzy to quiet to smart to class clown.
It's time to stop "shoulding" on ourselves and on others.  Often comments like this aren't even meant to be overheard... but they often are.
And do we expect people to stay the same through life?  Reunions can be a challenge as we battle the reputations or labels from our younger selves.
I wrap up with some suggestions on how you can let these labels go and decide how you want to be known, and that's powerful.

EFT Tapping is being talked about on the Today show, is being used and taught by thousands, and is the subject of today's episode.  Need your brain to actually believe that you can achieve your big goals? Need to process some emotions that keep hanging around in your body? Tapping is your answer.
Rachel McGuire of Embrace This Place talks with me about how she found tapping, what kind of difference it has made for her, and how it helps others like you and me.  She's also walking us through a practice tapping session, so get ready to feel good!

This one is personal - I'm sharing the story of my relationship with food, and it is not a smooth ride.  I had some struggles and I told no one.
Those struggles helped me find a way to look at food differently, however, and using these two types of food - FUN and FUEL - has been a game changer. I hope it will be for you as well.

We reach a point where we realize that it's REALLY important - and also a bit more challenging - to maintain strength, flexibility, and balance.  So why does it matter so much and what can we do to make sure we can be strong and flexible while also avoiding pain and injury?
Julie Cates of Strong Women Over 50 (@julcates) and Exercise for Life Studios joins me on this episode to share her four principles of safe and effective exercise (they're powerful!), and to talk about the two buckets of MOVE and BUILD.  We're talking about how to do all of this pain-free and in a way that is healthy for your body as well.
You'll find the resources mentioned and the Spotify playlist at www.omgteachme.com and you can find Julie's free program for women in midlife at https://www.exerciseforlifestudios.com/perfectly-fit-for-women-50 as well. Check out Green-Gut-Glow Plus at www.bit.ly/greengutglowplus.

Have you ever felt like you were putting in all the effort and nothing seemed to be working out? You're doing your best and the goal seems out of reach?
Karen Mullins and I are talking about the resistance we sometimes have related to a goal - and how we feel about that goal - and she shares some practical tips to help us all achieve more and do it with lightness and faith.
The true purpose of a goal is the person we become on the way there, so what if what are you doing actually IS working?
I'll challenge you to try Karen's parking space manifesting as well.  Let me know how it goes!

We've been talking about gratitude during the last two episodes and now let's jump a few steps earlier to something most of us struggle with for which gratitude and appreciation are a SOLUTION.  Remember we talked about how the brain wants to avoid danger and stay in a safety zone? We all struggle with an Upper Limit Problem that holds us back in certain areas.
Let's talk about why this happens, how to grow your upper limit so you can do more and achieve more, and how this might occasionally be a good thing.  If you've ever complained because you keep ending up with the same type of boyfriend or girlfriend, or you never get that promotion you wanted, or your income never grows, listen in... that's your upper limit at work.
